The
Personal Safety Awareness
Program was introduced in Reno County Schools
in 1984 and has since been presented to more than 75 public and parochial
school districts in Kansas.
Nationally the program has been purchased by Vermont's Chittenden
Unit for Special Investigations - office of the Chittenden County
State's Attorney and Tenessee's Robertson Child Advocacy Center in
Springfield, TN.
This sensitive, comprehensive program teaches children in a positive,
non-threatening way the information they need to protect themselves
from sexual assault.
The curriculum is presented in four one-hour sessions over a two-week
period. The classroom teacher is the primary presenter and resource
speakers from law enforcement and social service agencies provide
additional classroom information.
The primary goals of the program are to teach
2nd and 4th grade
children...
skills
to protect themselves
 the
importance of reporting if a situation would occur.
The Personal Safety Awareness Program sells an educational video, "Be Alert, Don't Get Hurt" for elementary grades 1st - 4th. The cost is $149.00. Please call Horizons Mental Health Center to order your video.

We invite you to read more
